No Data to Support Town Centre Cycling Ban
Following a police request for the Borough Council to consider a cycling ban in Nuneaton town centre, data has finally arrived on the number of cycling-related complaints and incidents that have been recorded here by Warwickshire Police.
Warwickshire Approves its LCWIP
Warwickshire County Council has voted to approve its new Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan, in the Cabinet session held on 15 February 2024. The detailed plan, in development since 2022, sets out the County Council’s vision for walking, wheeling, and cycling.

Coventry City-Centre e-Cycling Ban
Following its consultation on proposals back in September, Coventry City Council confirmed last month its intention to ban e-cycles (and e-scooters) from the pedestrianised city centre. We now have greater clarity on that prohibition where the wording of the PSPO led to a number of questions.
Warwickshire PAUSES Nuneaton cycle schemes
Warwickshire County Council has stated that it is pausing development of its often-delayed Long Shoot Cycle Scheme and its Hinckley Road scheme in Nuneaton. The reasoning for this decision has been attributed both to levels of community support and a funding shortfall.
Another Delay to the Long Shoot Route
The wait for construction on Warwickshire’s high quality cycle scheme alongside the A47 Long Shoot in Nuneaton continues as the local authority has confirmed another delay to the project. While the scheme is still expected to proceed, it is now hoped that construction on the 1.4km route will begin early in 2024.
